Magic Drum Orchestra’s well received “Crunked Up” released as a digital single on 23rd March. The release is accompanied by a new video which features the glowing frames of the 20-piece percussion ensemble as they engage in a stripped back, enigmatic LED-lit drum performance.

Taken from their 2014 debut album, ‘MDO Sessions 1’, “Crunked Up” fuses Magic Drum Orchestra’s passion for Brazilian music, heavy drums and percussion with a love of modern dance beats. Originally a track by Dubstep producer Benga, Magic Drum Orchestra’s take is carnival-ready with its heavy drum work and chorus of day-glow whistles. Destined to inject a flavor of samba and afrobeat to the current bass scene, “Crunked Up” has so far been picked up on by international tastemaker Lefto, BBC 6 Music’s Don Letts and Gilles Peterson.
